About PerspectivE

PerspectivE is a VSE platform for specialist articles and analyses – by the industry for the industry.

Interesting topics, diverse perspectives, innovative ideas: With PerspectivE, the VSE offers a publication platform for guest authors from the industry, politics, science and economics. Diversity is the programme here. Hence, articles will normally be published in the authors’ languages. Opinions and views published on PerspectivE do not necessarily reflect the position of the VSE.

Why PerspectivE?

As the association for the Swiss electricity sector, the VSE promotes the exchange of knowledge and experience within the industry. PerspectivE offers a platform that is accessible to a broad public and that facilitates networking among experts. In doing so, VSE creates new perspectives for tomorrow's energy world.

Editorial process

Guidelines

What can I publish as a PerspectivE article?

PerspectivE is a platform for specialist articles and analyses on energy topics. Share your experiences, findings and ideas here. Your opinions and views do not have to reflect official VSE positions. Advertising and PR contributions are not allowed. The VSE make the decision on the publication of an article.

What do I need to keep in mind when writing an article?

PerspectivE articles highlight and expand on a current energy topic in an analytical and objective manner. Please use an objective-scientific overall tone. Make sure to use logical argumentation and reference your sources.

In what language will my article be published?

You can write your article in German or French. In exceptional cases and in agreement with the VSE editorial desk, articles in Italian or English are also possible. The article will be published in the original language. Contact the VSE editorial desk well in advance if you want your article translated. Translation costs will be invoiced to you by the VSE editorial desk.

How long can my article be?

PerspectivE articles have an average length of approx. 10,000 characters including spaces (about 5 A4 pages).

How do I structure my article?

PerspectivE articles have a title (max. 80 characters including spaces) and a lead (max. 350 characters including spaces). The content of the article is summarised in the lead and arouses readers' interest. The title and lead are followed by the text with subtitles and references. As a rule of thumb, per 4000 characters a graphic element should be inserted. Do not number chapters.

Can I use graphic elements in my article?

Yes, you can integrate images, photo galleries, graphics and videos in your article. As an author, you are responsible for the provision of the respective visual material. The VSE editorial desk can support you if necessary. Image sources must be noted in the text. Please clarify any usage rights for image material from third parties prior to publication. Graphics and illustrations should be in the following files formats: .jpg/.jpeg/.png/.ppt/.eps/.pdf/.ai/.svg/.xcl.

As an author, what information must I provide about myself?

PerspectivE articles will be published in the name of three authors maximum. Each author is presented with a portrait photo, name, role and organisation. Furthermore, each author must provide a contact address, such as: Email address, LinkedIn or X profile.

How can I draw attention to my article?

The VSE editorial desk will inform you as soon as the article is published. Your article will appear on the homepage of strom.ch, in the news area of the VSE website, as well as on the PerspectivE homepage. In addition, your article will be listed in the next "Stromnews" newsletter. The VSE decides whether your article will also appear in the "Neues aus dem VSE" newsletter, which is directed exclusively to VSE members. Normally, the VSE will also make a LinkedIn post about every new PerspectivE article. You can share the VSE post or make an additional post about your article.
