Shell, Siemens Axpo, Alpiq - big names from the energy and industrial sectors have been positioning themselves in the field of hydrogen for some time now. The goal is clear: hydrogen should be a genuine alternative in the field of climate-neutral fuels and a substitute for fossil gases. There currently seem to be no limits in terms of areas of application and visions. But what about the economic viability of the hyped green energy carrier?
